Catching Up from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

It's been a while since I've popped in here. No excuses unless the excessive heat has rendered me useless. 109° again on Saturday.

From Here To There And Back Again from From the Strawberry Patch...

We've taken another road trip, albeit a quick one. Augie continues to excel as a traveler, we never could have asked for a better car companion. Since last Sunday was both Father's Day and my mother's 90th birthday we drove up to New Hampshire to celebrate the joyous, double event with my parents. It was a beautiful day.  Mom and Dad live in what is known as the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, as

Making Memories from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Last week I made a quick trip to visit with this bunchTo celebrate a special birthdayI soaked up every minute - this is her boat and she's singing 'row, row, row, your boat' Someone once told me that grandbabies grow up faster than children and I didn't think that was possible, but I may need to re-think thatWho needs toys when you have an endless rock supply at your disposal (her daddy was a

Temporarily Relinquished my Hermit Status from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

So much busy-ness! I have been on the go a lot lately. This kind of a schedule is probably normal for many of you and it's all been a really good kind of busy, but WHEW, I am pooped! I am just going to catalog a quick daily update here because living out on a ranch, I often get questions like 'What do you DO all day?' or "Don't you get bored?". The answer to that last question...NEVER. Other

Back to Texas from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Last Thursday we loaded up and headed back to Texas. Our dear friend, Bob passed away unexpectedly the Friday after Thanksgiving. He and his wife, Sue, are so special to us. I posted about them here, when I recently gave them a quilt. Bob & SueHe will be missed greatly. Bob's celebration of life was this past Thursday so we left the house at 3 a.m. in order to be there for the service. Our girl

Heading For the Border(s) from From the Strawberry Patch...

My late summer obsession has been pulling out all of those accumulated blocks-of-the-month from years past and setting them together. I got a border on this one (L) just this past week. A sweet off-white marbled fabric was special ordered (with fingers crossed) to border up and surround these six year old blocks and rein them in, success(!); it blended perfectly with the background fabric from

On the Road Again from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Saturday we were up and out the door at 4 a.m. for a 2 hour road trip for this:

It's the Clovis horse sale (Clovis is in New Mexico), but earlier this year the sale moved to Texas:

DH was in search of a colt:

.

Lots of studying and looking and walking and discussing.

And we've expanded the family by one:

He's just a yearling so lots of ground work in his future

Another 15 hour day and chores in the dark, but we're thankful for safe travels and our new addition. Welcome home:

What I've Been Up To from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Life as we know it has changed for most everyone lately, but it's business as usual for us. I know many of you are finding a new temporary normal and some of you are sewing your way through it. No sewing here. Last week I made a 9 hour road trip and spent a fast week with my mom. I left Tuesday and came back Saturday. I didn't see the sun the entire time:  Yes. I know we all need to stay

Good for the Soul from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

This dear gal is exactly that: And we don't get to see each other nearly enough. We live almost 4 hours from each other and it's been entirely too long since we last got together. It is just silly to let 3 years go by without seeing someone whom I cherish so much. Our attempts to meet up have  not worked out, but when she texted me the other day and asked me what I was doing Wednesday, I

Road Trip from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

It was good to spend a few days with our girl. Our morning beverages were served in style - so cute and thoughtful! The company she works for has farm and ranch country and their employees have access to their properties so we drove up so DH could accompany her on her first deer hunt: Deer were located, but 'the one' was never seen. She still had a week, but we had to come back. I'm so

Quilt Shop Stop Ahead from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Our girl's been in Oklahoma for 18 months and although I've been there a couple of times, her Daddy never has. She makes the trip home quite a bit (we'll take her and our boy anytime we can get them) and it hasn't been long since her last visit. This last weekend we remedied that with a little  road trip that allowed us time to catch up on podcasts: On a 7 hour trip, we pass through 2 decent
